The marriage between Carlos Leal and United Investments Portugal (UIP) has lasted for three decades. Eight years after dating, in 2007, he was named General Manager and become responsible for the development and management of the group’s assets.
After more than 2 hours of travel between Lisbon and Albufeira, it’s in one of the meeting rooms of Pine Cliffs that we were welcomed. It is a common august day and one of the most iconic resorts with several international distinctions is completely full. The operation in Algarve goes well and is recommended, due to the bet on new segments in low season.
The Sheraton Cascais, also part of the portfolio of the UIP since 2015, “was a pleasant surprise” in the list of investments and the own brand of spa Serenity – The Art of Well Being is packed, ready to go to Lisbon and Oporto. In the capital, the premiere takes place next year in collaboration with Hyatt. For now, and until there is an alternative to the Humberto Delgado Airport, is out of the plans of the UIP a new five stars in Lisbon. In Oporto, the UIP will open, in the next months, the first YOTEL in the country. “My goal is to go there on New Year’s Eve. Even if we must go there and make beds”. Still in Oporto, soon will be revealed some excited news. There’s a project almost ready to start. But for now, it can only be spoken in a whisper tone.
